Router Flattening Sled with R80 1/2" Router and Surface Trim Router Bit

Router Flattening Sled with R80 1/2" Router and Surface Trim Router Bit

The Rutlands® router flattening and tenon sled with 2200W R80 1/2" router and 3 flute surface trim router bit simplifies the flattening of workpieces too large or problematic to pass through a planer. Measuring 1200mm x 1000mm in overall size, the sled will accommodate the largest of projects, whether live edge slabs, table tops or epoxy resin boards, unrestricted in length. Each heavy duty component has been selected to ensure smooth, precise routing and to deliver the flattest, most consistent surface finish, reducing sanding time at the finishing stage.

The lower and upper rails are engineered from high carbon steel, ensuring exceptional strength, durability and load bearing capacity. At 20mm thick, the upper rails will support the router with no bending or deflection, delivering a consistent depth of cut every time. Each aluminium slider block features a series of linear ball bearings, shielded from dust ingress, providing smooth, precise travel with zero play. The width of the jig is adjustable in size to suit smaller work surfaces, and when flattening stock longer than the sled, the sled is simply shifted further along until the full working area has been flattened. The sled will accommodate stock up to 48mm thick, and can be raised in height to take thicker stock by affixing wooden battens to the lower rails. Four rail stop collars ensure that the sled does not leave the lower rails, and their position can be adjusted to limit the available range of travel.

The R80 1/2" router delivers exceptional power at 2200W and a smooth, friction-free plunge stroke light enough to operate with just one hand. Plunging up to a depth of 70mm, the R80 travels through its range without excessive play or tightness, allowing routing with a higher level of accuracy and control. Depth adjustment is quickly and precisely controlled using the fine adjustment knob to a resolution of 0.1mm, clearly marked in easy to read graduations. A 3 turret depth stop and graduated depth scale allow for up to three different cut depths to be pre-set, ideal for making incremental passes.

The soft start motor runs at a variable speed range of between 9,000 – 22,000rpm, maintaining a constant rotational speed, even under demanding loads. The ergonomically contoured soft grip handles ensure optimum control of the router and feature a handle-mounted power switch for ease of use. A safety lock mechanism prevents accidental start-up, whilst a locking button allows the motor to run continually, ideal for extended use. The R80 router is supplied with a 37mm diameter dust port, 1/2" & 1/4" collets, collet spanner, adjustable straight edge guide, trimmer guide, template guide and chip guard. ©
